For the players of the world who can't deny their love for the simplicity of a single pickup, we have this Gibson Custom Shop 1963 SG Junior Reissue in a Silver Fox Light Aged finish. Bringing things down to a ground level with a thin finish treatment and one bold P-90, the honesty and simplicity of this Custom Shop creation makes it a star from square one.
This Gibson Custom piece starts out with a mahogany body taking the classic devil-horned form. Falling in line with many SG models from across time, this SG Junior's body is ready to be slung over one's shoulder with a strap or played closely and comfortably over the knee. The unique Silver Fox finish this Custom Shop piece is decked with coincides with a Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment, imparting some lived-in and well-loved character right out the gate. Fans of exposed wood grain are sure to swoon over this Junior's finish job as its thinness shows off much of the natural patterns the mahogany cut has to offer.
Extending from this fascinating body, a mahogany neck joins in on the equation in a '61 SG profile. This neck is fitted with a short heel cap and measures .800" thick at the first fret and .900" at the twelfth. A one-piece Indian rosewood fingerboard aligns with this neck lined with Reissue-sized fret wire. These frets offer a classic feel across the fingers for players looking to get their best licks out. Celluloid dot fret inlays appear across the rosewood board for a satisfying visual motif.
This SG Junior's voice is summoned from its lone Dogear P-90 single-coil pickup. Punching up with vivacious energy and heat, this Dogear generates great thrills, despite going it solo.
